young adult ministry

The Office for Young  Adult Ministry, ministering to those in their 20s and 30s,  serves as a resource to Young Adult Groups around the diocese and to assist parishes reaching out to young adults.  If you are a young adult, please also join our Facebook Group for dialogue with other young adults as well as to keep informed of events and opportunities for impromptu gatherings.

The Office also plans an annual Young Adult Retreat.  This year's retreat will take place September 11-13 at Guggenheim Lodge.  Save the Date.

The Office also co-sponsors the Young Adult/Campus Ministry pilgrimage to the DC March for Life in January (see Campus Ministry).

If you are a Young Adult in College, please see the Campus Ministry page for more information pertaining specifically to college students at various campuses in the Diocese.

The Office of Young Adults also organizes our Diocesan Participation in World Youth Day.  The next World Youth Day will take place in 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal.

YOUNG ADULT GROUPS

St. Peter’s Young Adults, Massena.

Saint Peter’s Young Adults is a brand new group based in Massena! We love to meet around a campfire when we can (with s’mores of course) and are excited for our group’s future. We created this group so that young, faithful Catholics in the Massena area can have communion with each other, support each other, and help each other to learn and grow more in our practice and knowledge of the Faith. We are looking forward to group Mass, Confession, and Adoration, Bible studies, Catechism studies, learning about the saints, going on “field trips”, and most importantly,  spending time with young adults who love Jesus and His Church. If you or anyone you know is interested in attending, text McKenna at 315-842-0457

Frassati Fellowship, Potsdam, NY

The mission of Frassati Fellowship is to provide group young adult Catholics who seek to grow in faith, community, and understanding of our Catholic faith through monthly gatherings, pilgrimages, and community service. We welcome anyone from around the Diocese of Ogdensburg and beyond! Together, we are students, professionals, married, and single. We are all brought together to share in our Catholic faith, but all are welcome regardless of faith background or lack thereof.

Our monthly meetings consist of prayer, scripture readings, and discussion as well as well as presentations by local Catholics. The group gathers for adoration at Saint Mary's in Potsdam and later proceeds to the rectory and Newman House to join together in fellowship.

Our patron for this organization is Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, a man of selflessness who had a great love for serving Christ and His Church. As a group we seek to join together and imitate Bless Pier Giorgio's joyful holiness in a modern world that is often lacking in joy or holiness.

To join the group and be added to the email, please email Conner Cummings at  campusministrysm@gmail.com. Also be sure to check out the Frassati Fellowship Facebook page.

Watertown Area Young Adults, Watertown, NY

The mission of Totus Tuus, the young adult group of Watertown, is to take an active role as the church militant. Nourished by the sacraments, edified through the catechism and scripture and strengthened by prayer and fasting, we will share our faith and serve the community. Our patron saints are St. Augustine, St. Gemma Galgani, and Pope St. John Paul II.   For a current schedule of meetings and events contact Sarah at sgbuskey@gmail.com

Northern New York Catholic Fellowship,  Malone Area

YOUNG ADULT RETREAT

The Office of Young Adult Ministry organizes an annual Young Adult Retreat each year.  This year we have reserved the Guggenheim Lodge from August 11-13.

This retreat is generally planned as a relaxed opportunity for prayer, discussion and simply spending time with other Young Adults from around the diocese.

If you are a young adult and are interested in helping plan the weekend, contact Marika Donders at info@rcdony.org

WORLD YOUTH DAY

World Youth Day in Lisbon has been postponed for a year until August of 2023 because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.  If there is enough interest, we will organize a group from our diocese. If you will be at least 18 in July/August 2023 and are interested in participating in WYD Lisbon, call Marika Donders at 315-393-2920.

The WYD Logo and Theme

The theme chosen by Pope Francis for the 2023 World Youth Day is Mary arose and went with haste (Lk. 1:39). Mary is an example for us to be missionary in outlook.  Pope Francis prays that we will have the same attitude as Mary: “may young people’s evangelization be active and missionary, for this is how they will recognize and witness the presence of the living Christ.”

The Logo, in the colors of the Portuguese flag, shows us the path where the Holy Spirit arises, and Mary as well as the rosary all in the main element of the Cross. Learn more about the Logo here:
