Pope Benedict XVI declared a Year of Faith, from Oct. 11, 2012 to Nov. 24, 2013, marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council in Rome and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The purpose of the year is to help Catholics appreciate the gift of faith, deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their commitment to sharing faith with others.
