Parish Music Director
for St. Joseph’s Parish
West Chazy, New York

The Parish Music Director for St. Joseph’s Parish must be able to play the organ and keyboard. The Music Director must be available for all weekend liturgies and, where necessary and desired, for all weddings and funerals. The Parish Music Director will be responsible for all hymns and acclamations that are to be sung at each Mass. The Parish Music Director will also be responsible for the parish choir at the principal Mass each weekend. This will involve at least one weekday evening practice as well as a warm up session before the principal Mass on Sunday. This practice will end at least ten minutes before the Mass begins. The Parish Music Director will be responsible to help the parish learn new hymns on a regular basis, especially for the major liturgical seasons of the year. The Parish Music Director must be prepared to have a working knowledge of most of the hymns in the resource book that is used by the parish.

The Parish Music Director will also share responsibilities with the Director of Christian Formation in order to involve the young people of the parish as musicians and singers on a regular basis at the Parish Liturgies and Celebrations.

Stipends for each Mass and practice will be arranged with the Pastor. Fees for weddings and funeral will be set by the pastor and the parish music director. The Parish music director will also approve all music that is requested for weddings.
