| About the Diocese |
The Diocese of Ogdensburg, which covers 12,036 square miles, was established by Pope Pius IX on February 16, 1872. It currently has 71 active Diocesan Priests, 47 Retired and Disabled Priests, 5 priests belonging to Religious Institutes, 4 Priests working or studying outside the Diocese, 70 Permanent Deacons, 7 Brothers, 112 Sisters and 833 Lay Ministers. The Diocese has 102 Parishes, 7 Missions, 24 Parochial Oratories, 13 Elementary Schools, 2 High Schools, and 1 Nursing Home. The Catholic population is 104,113 out of a total of 491,328. |
